Brownley Statement on FCC Net Neutrality Vote

Dec 14, 2017
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) issued the following statement today following the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) vote to undermine the principle of net neutrality:

“The actions taken today by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to undermine net neutrality are deeply troubling and have been taken without properly considering public opinion on the matter. The open internet has been a catalyst for economic growth, job creation, the free exchange of information, and myriad innovations that have bettered society and accelerated social and economic equality. I am committed to ensuring that the internet is affordable and accessible for all Americans, and net neutrality is essential to achieve that. The vote taken by the FCC is not the end of this fight. It’s time for Congress to pass legislation that will make sure our internet remains free, fair, and open, with clear, consistent rules on net neutrality that protect consumers."
