Washington, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) released the following statement on her vote supporting H.Res. 11, expressing concerns to UN Security Council Resolution 2334:
“I strongly believe that a two-state solution is critical to peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and for economic stability and security in the region. I also agree with President Obama and Secretary Kerry that the current situation is unsustainable, and threatens the future of a Jewish and democratic Israel living in peace and security with a Palestinian state. My support of H. Res. 11 was based on my concerns with specific language in UN Security Council Resolution 2334, not my support for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s unhelpful settlement policies. As one of our strongest allies, I will continue to be a staunch supporter of Israel, and policies that will lead to sustainable peace in the region.”
