Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced that the Child Development Resources of Ventura County, Inc. (CDR) and Easterseals Child Development Center in Ventura will receive more than $18 million to continue their Head Start and Early Head Start Child Care programs.
“Early education programs play a critical role in setting children up for long-term success,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “As a long-time supporter of Head Start programs, I am happy to see Ventura County receive these grants. With this new funding, they will be able to create and expand comprehensive, high-quality early learning programs for our most vulnerable children in Ventura County and set them up for a brighter future.”
“CDR was pleased to receive notice of award to continue our Head Start and Early Head Start programs for the year beginning April 1, 2019,” said Suzanne Godinez, CDR Director of Early Care & Education Programs. “We have a proud history of providing high-quality comprehensive preschool programs to our most vulnerable children in Ventura County, including children with special needs. This investment will help continue that tradition by providing the children with the necessary foundation for success in school and in life. Head Start also has a strong parent engagement program that is built on trust by creating and sustaining an ongoing relationship with the parents that supports family well-being. It also honors and supports the parent-child relationships that are central to a child’s healthy development, school readiness, and well-being.”
CDR operates 26 Head Start centers across Ventura County and serves 1,226 children and families. CDR will be receiving $14,604,986 to deliver comprehensive services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being, as well as $1,320,010 to extend the duration of programs and hours of operation. Easterseals, through their Early Head Start program, provides care for 116 infants and toddlers throughout Ventura County. They will be receiving $2,168,329.
