Thousand Oaks, CA – Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced today that Nina Moussavi will serve as her new District Director.
“Nina brings years of valuable experience to our Ventura County offices and I am excited to welcome her to Team Brownley,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “With extensive advocacy and constituent service experience, Nina will be a tremendous asset as I continue to serve the people of California’s 26th Congressional District. I am confident that her leadership and unwavering commitment to public service will make her an effective advocate and problem-solver for my constituents.”

Ms. Moussavi previously worked as a Government Affairs and Public Policy Manager for the American Gas Association, working on the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and energy efficiency issues, and as District Director for Councilwoman Suzie Price in Long Beach, CA. While working for the City of Long Beach, Ms. Moussavi worked closely with legislators and regulators on the City Council, the City’s Planning Commission, and the California Coastal Commission to bring to fruition ongoing projects in the region.
Ms. Moussavi has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature from California State University, Long Beach, and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. While pursuing her J.D., Ms. Moussavi provided hundreds of hours of pro bono legal services to individuals and families in underrepresented communities, victims of domestic violence, civil violence, and elder abuse.
Ms. Moussavi will be replacing Carina Armenta, who served as District Director for Congresswoman Brownley since 2013. Ms. Armenta now serves as Congresswoman Brownley’s Communications Director in Washington, DC.
