Washington, DC — Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) today announced the launch of the 2020 Virtual Art Competition for California’s 26th District. The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide high school visual arts competition that was started in 1982 to recognize artistic talent in each Congressional District.
“The arts are an essential part of a well-rounded and successful educational program,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “As we continue to follow remain at home orders, I encourage all high school students in California’s 26th Congressional District to participate in this year’s competition and showcase their talent which deserves to be recognized.”
Email submissions are due to Brownley’s office by Wednesday, May 27, 2020. A panel of local artists will select the winner whose artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol Building for a year. The winning student and one adult will also be flown to Washington, DC for the awards ceremony.
