Washington, DC – Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) released the following statement today after the passage of the Heroes Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill included provisions authored by Congresswoman Brownley to help homeless veterans with children find a safe place to live.

“The Heroes Act will provide much needed relief to American families, and I am pleased that it also includes provisions from my bill, the Homeless Veteran Families Act (H.R. 95), which addresses homelessness amongst our veteran population.

“My bill will provide urgently needed resources to house the countless homeless veterans and their children throughout the United States, who are struggling to make ends meet amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is the second time the House of Representatives has passed my bill. In fact, it has been over 200 days since H.R. 95 first passed, but veterans are still waiting for the U.S. Senate to vote on it. I urge Senator McConnell to allow a vote on this critical legislation, so that homeless veterans and their families can get housing without delay.”
