Washington, DC – Today, Women Veterans Task Force Chairwoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) released the following statement regarding President-elect Joe Biden’s announcement that he will nominate Denis McDonough to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
“Denis is a man of great integrity, dedication to public service, and commitment to moving our country forward. With his experience in the West Wing and in the Senate, he’s proven that he can navigate large bureaucratic organizations to move our country forward, and improve the lives of the American people. Denis is exactly the leader VA needs, and I’m certain that he will serve our nation’s veterans well.
“As Chair of the VA Subcommittee on Health, I look forward to working with Denis to improve healthcare for all of our nation’s veterans. As Chair of the Women Veteran Task Force, I particularly look forward to working with Denis to end sexual harassment at VA facilities, which must happen in order for women veterans to receive the equitable care and benefits they have earned and deserve.”
