Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) introduced the Helping Homeless Veterans Act, which would reauthorize and make permanent vital programs to help keep our veterans off the streets.

“I am profoundly grateful for the service and sacrifice made by our nation’s veterans, and it is a stain on our nation that so many of them are living on the street,” said Congresswoman Julia Brownley. “We have made progress in the fight to end veteran homelessness, but we have so much work to do, especially as the pandemic continues to put economic stress on those barely making ends meet. My bill will provide continuous transitional housing, employment assistance, supportive services, and much more to honor the men and women who have served our nation in uniform.”

The Helping Homeless Veterans Act makes permanent the following programs:

Each of these important veterans’ programs is critical to eliminating veterans’ homelessness and meeting the VA’s goal of ending veterans’ homelessness.
