Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) released the following statement on the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA):
“Senator Dianne Feinstein was emblematic of a leader who fought for the progress of this country for the better. She was a champion of the interests of the people of California, and she was guided by a spirit of true public service.
“She was a woman of many firsts but, more importantly, she paved the way for the future of women in politics for generations to come – including myself and many of my colleagues in Congress today. She broke the glass ceiling of many institutions throughout her remarkable career, and she did so with the utmost grace and integrity.
“She was revered for her intelligence, immeasurable kindness, and notable political sophistication, which made her an accomplished legislator and an effective representative of the great State of California. The Golden State shines brighter because of Dianne Feinstein and her service.
“It was a privilege to call her my colleague, but an honor to call her a friend. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing.”
