Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) released the following statement after House Republicans pulled H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act otherwise known as “TrumpCare,” from consideration in the U.S. House of Representatives:
“This is a victory for the American people. They made their voices heard and said loud and clear: No to TrumpCare! Eliminating healthcare for 24 million Americans is not progress. Eliminating coverage for prenatal care, maternity care, vaccinations, and cancer screening is not progress. Giving $600 billion in tax breaks to the richest Americans, while undermining the solvency of Medicare for everyone else, is not progress. Instead of going backwards, we need to move forward, and make affordable, quality healthcare a reality for everyone.”
