Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) issued the following statement on her votes for the short-term funding bills for the Department of Homeland Security:
“It is absolutely irresponsible to threaten a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security. While I believe Speaker Boehner must allow the House to vote on the bipartisan, Senate-passed, full-year bill, I voted for the short-term bills because I could not in good conscience stand by while House Republicans play a dangerous political game with our national security.”
