Attending a U.S. Service Academy is a great honor and an excellent way for young Americans to serve their country. Every year, I have the honor of nominating students from Ventura County and the Conejo Valley to represent our district at one of the five prestigious service academies in the nation.

This fall, my office is hosting a series of in-person information night for students and their families throughout California’s 26th Congressional District to learn about the service academies and the opportunities these institutions of higher learning afford their students.

Below is information on the first Service Academy Information Night in the series.

Tuesday, August 27, at 5:30 PM
Thousand Oaks High School | Multi-purpose Room
2323 N. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks

This popular event features representatives, including alumni and current students, from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. In addition to providing resources that help prospective students navigate the rigorous application process and the competitive congressional nomination process, the meeting also provides a forum for students and their parents to ask questions about admissions, student life, and more.

My staff will also be on hand to answer questions about the congressional nomination process. NOTE: Applications for a congressional nomination are due to my office no later than Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

In addition to this month’s event, the dates and locations for the Service Academy Information Nights are:

  • Wednesday, September 4, at 5:30 PM | Pacifica High School, Oxnard
  • Wednesday, September 18, at 5:30 PM | Zoom
  • Wednesday, September 25, at 5:30 PM | Foothill Technology High School, Ventura*
*In partnership with the Office of Congressman Salud Carbajal
