Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Julia Brownley released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s deadlock on the U.S. v. Texas case that would halt the implementation of President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program and the expansion of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA+) program:
“I am disappointed that today’s deadlocked Supreme Court decision in U.S v.Texas blocks the President’s executive actions to protect hardworking immigrant families. Instead of providing work authorization and temporary legal status for 4 million parents of American citizens and legal residents, the Supreme Court has left in place broken immigration laws that are hampering our economic growth and tearing our communities apart.”
