Congresswoman Julia Brownley (CA-26), Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06), and Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-28) led 20 of their House colleagues in sending a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in response to recent reports concerning the treatment of individuals with disabilities who have interacted with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Individuals with disabilities are legally entitled to accommodations that meet their specific needs, including those detained by ICE.

Rep. Julia Brownley (D-CA-26) joined more than 30 community leaders on Jan. 30 in front of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Field Office in Camarillo to discuss “the lawless and dangerous conduct of federal immigration enforcement agencies under the leadership of U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.”

Joined by faith leaders, community organizers, and fellow elected officials, Congresswoman Brownley condemned the brutality of U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem’s immigration enforcement operations and demanded an immediate end to the Trump administration’s lawlessness and lack of accountability.

Julia Brownley condemned the increasingly violent actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and demanded an immediate end to what she called the agency’s lawless operations. The Jan. 30 news conference was held outside the ICE field office at 321 Cortez Circle in Camarillo where the Westlake Village Democrat said she has been denied access.

Congresswoman Julia Brownley (CA-26) released the following statement in support of Articles of Impeachment filed against U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The articles of impeachment were introduced earlier this week by Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) and have been co-sponsored by more than 80 Members of Congress.

Congresswoman Julia Brownley joined her Democratic Women’s Caucus colleagues in a letter to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expressing deep concerns over ICE impersonators harassing and assaulting women. The members called for ICE to require agents to wear visible, clear identification during enforcement activities and to ensure impersonators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Brownley, D-Westlake Village, said she had not received any information from federal officials about any actions or detentions. “That has been (the case) since the very beginning of the Trump administration,” said Brownley, as she drove to the site. Brownley called the recent immigration enforcement actions egregious and immoral.
