Dear Neighbor,

In recent weeks, Ventura County has been struck with flooding, rains, and mudslides which have upended the lives of many members of our community. The impacts have been felt throughout the region, including the Santa Paula and Upper Ojai areas.

Notably, over ten miles of State Route 150 from Steckel Park to Stonegate Road in Santa Paula has been closed due to recent mudslides. Please know that my office and I are monitoring the situation and working closely with local, county, and state leaders to get the roads cleared as soon as possible, so that all those affected are able to travel, get their mail on time, and receive emergency services when necessary.
Currently, the best detour available is to loop around through Ventura on Highways 126, 101, and 33 to then reconnect with the 150 in Ojai. CalTrans continues to evaluate additional options like a shuttle service and a temporary pedestrian footpath to ease commutes. Most recently, it was announced that emergency shuttle service will operate between Santa Paula and Ojai to help residents affected by the closure of State Route 150. For more information including the service schedule, visit the Ventura County Transportation Commission here.

Also, I have heard from many residents that mail routes have been impacted by the mudslide and subsequent road closure. If you are unable to get your mail, please know that temporary mailboxes have been installed at the Santa Paula Post Office, located at 960 W. Telegraph Road, Santa Paula, CA 93060. Impacted residents can request a mailbox at the post office with proper identification. Additionally, residents can request a temporary change of address or request “General Delivery” and have mail delivered to a local post office. NOTE: These requests must be done in-person and with valid identification.

While I understand this is an inconvenience for many of you, CalTrans and USPS want to ensure the safety of all residents in the area during this temporary closure.
