Washington, D.C. – Following the allegations of misconduct at the Phoenix VA Health Care System, and other locations, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) and Congressman Henry Waxman (D-Beverly Hills) have requested that VA Secretary Eric Shinseki conduct a full audit of all VA medical facilities, including the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, which services Ventura County veterans.
“The allegations of misconduct at the Phoenix VA, and other locations, are disturbing,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “As the Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, I am deeply concerned that these practices may be more pervasive within the VA medical system, which is why my colleagues and I are requesting full details of the nationwide audit. I am particularly focused on an audit of the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System because it services veterans in Ventura County.”
“We need to understand what is happening at Veterans Affairs clinics, and I am glad to see Secretary Shinseki is taking the appropriate steps to conduct a system-wide review,” said Rep. Henry A. Waxman. “Our veterans ought to have the best possible care. We owe it to the brave men and women who serve our country to get answers and ensure they are getting the treatment they deserve.”
