Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) issued the following statement on National Military Appreciation Month and Mental Health Month:
“Every May, we commemorate National Military Appreciation Month to say thank you to our brave service men and women, their families, and our veterans. As the daughter, niece, and sister of men who served in uniform, I personally understand the sacrifices our troops and their families make to serve our country.
“It is also Mental Health Month, and as the Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, I want to bring attention to the need to reduce our veterans’ wait times for mental health visits, and to expand care. I have been working tirelessly, both in Ventura County and in Washington, D.C., to ensure that our veterans get the help they have earned and deserve.
“This month, let us thank the men and women in uniform, our veterans, and their families for their service to our nation. If you or someone you know needs assistance with their federal military or VA benefits claims, please contact my office and I would be happy to assist you.”
