Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) issued the following statement after she voted against H.R. 4015, the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014:
“Repealing and replacing the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) with a system that rewards quality care and ensures patients’ access to their doctors is critical to strengthening Medicare. I support a permanent solution to the Medicare doc fix, and I am deeply disappointed that House Republicans included a last-minute provision that they knew full well would undermine an otherwise bipartisan, bicameral bill. House Republicans should stop playing politics with the health of our nation’s seniors.”
