Since the founding of our country, Latinos have helped forge the American landscape.
Today, Latinos play an integral part in the strength and prosperity of our nation’s future.
So please join me this month in recognizing the Latino community’s role in shaping America by celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
Ventura County is proud of its Latino community.
From serving bravely in our Armed Forces at Naval Base Ventura County,
To strengthening our labor force through education, innovation, and resolve,
To driving our local economy through entrepreneurial ventures in our region,
And to the cultural enrichment of our community through the mediums of art, music, and literature,
The Latino community has contributed immensely to the social fabric of our area and is a vital piece of the diversity that makes Ventura County a wonderful place to live and work.
Latinos, like countless other ethnic communities across our country, make America stronger.
As a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants, we must live up to our heritage and build a fair, effective, and common sense immigration system.
Successful implementation of comprehensive immigration reform will strengthen Ventura County and our nation.
Passing comprehensive immigration reform is critical to the growth of our local economy — it will strengthen our agricultural industry, cut the deficit, and create manufacturing and job opportunities here at home.
Comprehensive immigration reform is what will position America to lead in the 21st century.
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, let’s recognize that our ability to harness the resources and talent of the Latino community will only strengthen our county and our nation.
