Rep. Julia Brownley, D-Westlake Village, has proposed $97.5 million in security funding for the Port of Hueneme and other ports as part of the Homeland Security Appropriations Act.
Brownley’s amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations Act would fund the Port Security Grant program. Program money has been cut in recent years, and Brownley’s amendment would return funding to fiscal year 2012 levels.
“The port applies the grants to heighten its security profile with the most advanced surveillance and equipment technologies as well as hold vital training programs that involve over 50 first responders and law enforcement partners,” Port of Hueneme CEO Kristin Decas said.
