Thousand Oaks, CA – In the year since Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) took office, Brownley and her staff have successfully delivered $1.5 million in overdue federal benefits to her Ventura County constituents. Additionally, she helped secure more than $8 million in federal grants for local projects.
“When I first took office, I was determined to provide the most proactive, responsive, and customer-friendly constituent services possible,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “I am pleased to report that my office has received and responded to over 60,000 inquiries from constituents, recovered more than $1.5 million in overdue federal benefits to constituents, and worked to secure more than $8 million dollars in federal grants. As I begin my second year in office, I will continue to strive to be the best advocate for the people of Ventura County.”
Below are highlights of Congresswoman Brownley’s constituent-centered approach to strengthening Ventura County’s economy and fighting for middle-class families:
- Received and responded to over 60,000 inquiries from constituents.
- Of those 60,000 inquiries, over 1,100 required Brownley to open cases and cut through bureaucratic red tape while advocating for constituents.
- Recovered nearly $1.2 million in past-due veterans’ benefits since January 2013.
- Recovered over $168,000 in Social Security past benefits to Ventura County residents.
- Helped secure more than $8 million in federal grants, including $4.2 million for expanding local transit services, $500,000 for carrier incentives for Oxnard airport, and $2.4 million to keep a local fire station open and staffed.
