Thousand Oaks, CA – On Monday, June 16, 2014, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) held a reception outside her Thousand Oaks office for the nine Ventura County high school students nominated by her who accepted appointments to U.S. service academies – the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York (USMA), the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland (USNA), and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado (USAFA).
“These young men and women who have accepted service academy appointments represent some of the best and brightest in Ventura County,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “As someone who grew up in a military family, I know the dedication that is required to attend a U.S. service academy, and these students demonstrate that dedication to serving our great country.”
