Washington, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will release more than $4.2 million in funds to the Ventura County Transportation Commission.
“With these funds, the Ventura County Transportation Commission will help our area relieve traffic congestion and improve our air quality, keeping Ventura County a beautiful place to live and work,” said Congresswoman Julia Brownley.
“The Ventura County Transportation Commission is very pleased to have received this federal grant to expand bus service in early morning, early evening, and weekends in Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, and Ojai,” said Darren M. Kettle, Executive Director of Ventura County Transportation Commission. “The funds had been on hold for months and we are particularly appreciative of the efforts of Congresswoman Brownley in helping expedite the approval.”
In 2012, the FTA awarded $4,287,529 to the Ventura County Transportation Commission through the CMAQ Program. However, the funding was not released due to a bureaucratic delay.
In response, Congresswoman Brownley urged FTA to release the long-delayed funds for the Ventura County Transportation Commission. To view the original letter click here: LINK.
