Washington, D.C— Today, Representative Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village), voted against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Repeal of this law would eliminate free coverage of life-saving preventative services for women such as mammograms, breastfeeding support, contraception and domestic violence screening.

“Under the Affordable Care Act, women in Ventura County receive free preventative services, insurers will no longer be able to drop them when they become pregnant or be able to charge them more than men,” said Congresswoman Julia Brownley. “While there are many areas of the Affordable Care Act that certainly need improvement, repealing life-saving health protections for women and families is not one of them. I call on my colleagues on the other side of the aisle to come together in a bipartisan fashion to work on practical solutions to making our health care system work better for all Americans, not engage in pointless partisan grandstanding.”
