Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) issued the following statement regarding allegations that up to 40 veterans may have died as a result in delays in treatment at the Phoenix VA Health Care System, and may have been placed on a secret waiting list to obscure actual wait times:
“The House Veterans’ Affairs Committee has requested a full investigation of these allegations. If true, the actions by the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System are deeply troubling and completely unacceptable. Our veterans deserve better. As the investigation moves forward, I will continue to demand accountability from the VA at all levels.”
The House Veterans’ Affairs Committee recently held a hearing on the previously-reported 19 veterans who may have died due to delays in care.
