Thousand Oaks, CA—Representative Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) released the following statement in response to the Springs wildfire in Ventura County.
“This fire was one of the largest in Ventura County’s history and I want to thank the courageous work of our first responders on the ground for their tireless work to protect our homes, neighborhoods, schools and our beloved Cal State Channel Islands. The Springs Fire began on a path for massive destruction but our local fire agencies, and agencies throughout Southern California, including the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection worked around the clock to control the blaze and save our homes. All of Ventura County is grateful for their heroic dedication to the safety of our community.
“I am pleased that FEMA acted quickly to approve the State of California’s Fire Management Grant, which will help cover the costs of fighting this fire. I will continue to work with federal, state, and local officials as the damage assessment process continues.”
