Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley announced the reintroduction of the Every Veteran Counts Act, which would require the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish and regularly update a database containing veterans’ demographic information to ensure VA programs and policies are designed to serve the changing population of veterans. 

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) and Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV)  introduced the Veteran Entrepreneurs Act, which reduces barriers to entrepreneurship by lowering upfront costs for veterans operating small businesses.

Congresswoman Julia Brownley (CA-26) visited the Port of Hueneme to deliver a check in the amount of $375,000 in support of the Port of Hueneme’s Reducing Emissions, Supporting Health (PHRESH) Plan that will assess and address emissions, air quality requirements, and goals, as well as look at future growth scenarios, emission control strategies, community involvement, strategy funding, implementation, and monitoring.

On Tuesday, May 2, Congresswoman Julia Brownley delivered the following remarks at the designation ceremony for the newly renamed “John R. Hatcher III Post Office Building,” located at 1961 North C Street in Oxnard, California.

Brownley introduced legislation to designate a US Post Office in Oxnard the John R Hatcher 3rd Post Office Building, and the bill was signed into law on December 27, 2022 by President Biden.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley announced the introduction of the Women in Aviation Advisory Board Act, legislation which would reauthorize the Women in Aviation Advisory Board (WIAAB) and allow for the continuation of the WIAAB’s work in developing recommendations and strategies to encourage women to pursue a career in aviation.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley and Congressman Brad Schneider introduced the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Act, legislation to incentivize the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and support the aviation industry in reducing carbon emissions.

On their way to line up on her deck, the sailors passed by the many guests in attendance, including Santa Barbara Mayor Randy Rowse, former fighter pilot and prisoner of war Captain Charlie Plumb, Congressmember Julia Brownley, Santa Barbara city councilmembers, uniformed naval officers, and family members.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley introduced the CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act, legislation which would allow children of disabled veterans to remain eligible for VA health care until they are 26 years old – the same coverage required under the Affordable Care Act for private-sector insurance plans, as well as the military’s TRICARE program. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

“Allowing VA to provide gender affirming surgery isn’t just the right thing to do. It will undeniably save lives,” said Rep. Julia Brownley, R-Calif., during Wednesday’s rally.
