Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-CA) announced the inclusion of nine community projects totaling more than $27 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act (H.R. 2471) that passed the House of Representatives by a 260-171-1 vote.

I am excited to once again invite all high school students (9th through 12th grades) in California’s 26th Congressional District to participate in the 2022 Congressional Art Competition, a nationwide visual arts competition started in 1982 to recognize artistic talent across the United States.

Ahead of this week’s joint House and Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearings with veterans service organizations, Congresswoman Julia Brownley recently introduced the Elizabeth Dole Home and Community Based Services for Veterans and Caregivers Act of 2022 (H.R. 6823). This legislation would improve and expand home and community-based services for disabled and elderly veterans, ensuring they are able to remain in their homes and receive the care they need. 

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley announced Alexander Sherbrooke, Hershraj Niranjani, and Ryan McCombs, students from the High School at Moorpark College, as the winners of the 2021 Congressional App Challenge for California’s 26th Congressional District. The students created Quiznot, a game-based learning app designed for students, teachers, and parents.

Since its enactment in November, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has been delivering on its promise to the State of California.

Today marks 49 years since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade, one of the court’s most consequential decisions of the 20th Century. This landmark decision ensures the right to legal and safe abortion and safeguards everyone’s right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.

Last week, Congress convened for the first votes of 2022. Early in the week, the House passed bipartisan legislation to bring equitable access to the GI Bill benefits for servicemembers of the National Guard and Reserve. The Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2021 ensures that every day spent in uniform – including required training – counts towards the educational assistance benefits of these servicemembers.

2021 was a year of incredible challenges for Americans across the country – and across Ventura County. Our local and national economies were still reeling from the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families feared for the health of their loved ones, and businesses struggled to keep their doors open.
