After nearly two decades of planning, false starts and community advocacy, city leaders officially broke ground on the long-awaited new Moorpark City Library. They were joined in the Jan. 27 morning festivities by area representatives, community members and longtime library supporters—all gathered to celebrate the milestone. Funding for the project includes several million dollars in state and federal support secured by U.S. Rep. Julia Brownley, state Sen. Henry Stern and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. The building was designed by LPA Inc.

Congresswoman Julia Brownley announced the inclusion of funding totaling more than $19,792,000 that she secured for California’s 26th Congressional District in H.R. 6398, the Fiscal Year 2026 spending bill. This funding ensures continued federal investments in important infrastructure and public safety initiatives across the region.
