Ventura County Harbors, Port of Hueneme Receive $14.8 Million in Federal Funding
U.S. Rep. Julia Brownley announced the funds, which will be used to strengthen local infrastructure, including dredging of the two harbors, on Tuesday. She noted that all three locations play a key role in Ventura County’s economy and said the new funds would bolster their operations.

Brownley Announces More Than $6 Million in Federal Funds for Cal Lutheran University to Help Increase Number of Underrepresented Students and Faculty
Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded two grants to California Lutheran University totaling more than $6 million over five years through the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program. This funding will help increase transfer, retention, and degree-completion rates for students who are Latino, low-income, or the first in their family to attend college and to address the shortage of Latino teachers.

Sergeant Major Canley, who served as a Marine for 28 years, has been recognized for his heroism before with the Navy Cross as well as two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, according to Representative Julia Brownley, Democrat of California, who represents the district where he now lives. He was her guest at Mr. Trump’s State of the Union address in January.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced that The Abundant Table, a nonprofit based in Camarillo, will receive nearly $250,000 in federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to expand access to locally grown fruits and vegetables for low-income families throughout Ventura County. The grant, part of USDA’s Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP), aims to increase domestic consumption of, and access to, locally and regionally produced agricultural products, as well as to develop new market opportunities for farm and ranch operations serving local markets.
