Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley announced $14.8 million in federal funding for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects in Ventura County at Channel Islands Harbor, Ventura Harbor, and the Port of Hueneme that will strengthen our local infrastructure.

Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded two grants to California Lutheran University totaling more than $6 million over five years through the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program. Sergeant Major Canley, who served as a Marine for 28 years, has been recognized for his heroism before with the Navy Cross as well as two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart, according to Representative Julia Brownley, Democrat of California, who represents the district where he now lives. He was her guest at Mr. Trump’s State of the Union address in January.

In 2014, one of Canley’s fellow servicemembers contacted Rep. Julia Brownley, the California Democrat who represents Canley’s home district, to request that Canley’s Navy Cross, two Bronze Stars and Purple Heart be upgraded to the nations’ highest military honor.
