Brownley and Takano Introduce Help Hire our Heros Act
Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) and Congressman Mark Takano (D-Riverside) introduced the Help Hire Our Heroes Act, a bill that would extend the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) for six months. This extension of the VRAP authorization and additional funding would allow veterans to participate and would pay veterans VRAP benefits through September 30, 2014.

Brownley Applauds Administration’s Export/Import Initiative
Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) applauded President Obama’s signing of an Executive Order that will improve the export/import processes for America’s small businesses by requiring completion of the International Trade Data System (ITDS) by December 2016. Once completed, the ITDS will reduce approval and processing times for U.S. small businesses seeking to import and export goods from days to minutes.

Brownley Excited about Triton’s Future at Point Mugu
Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) expressed her strong support for the upcoming arrival of the Triton Unmanned Aircraft System at Point Mugu. The Triton program will have an initial 4 officers and 43 enlisted sailors based at Naval Base Ventura County in 2015, a presence that is expected to grow to 700 servicemembers by 2020. According to the Navy’s draft environmental assessment released in February 2013, the county is expected to grow by nearly 2,400 new residents when including family members and support personnel as a result.
